In order to minimise the use of resources and waste Bremerhaven had the ambition to systematically record the amount of material consumed and waste generated during construction and maintenance projects. In 2015 material consumption and waste is recorded as part of maintenance; but material consumption on construction projects is not yet systematically recorded. Current status is unknown.

In order to minimise resource use and waste generation Bremerhaven had the ambition to offer training opportunities on resource-saving construction methods and the use of recycled materials. In 2015 such courses were passed on internally to the relevant functions, but, unfortunately, port-specific courses are rare. Current status is unknown.
