Circular economy activity 1
Name of the Circular Economy Activity Identified:
RECYCLING OF MATERIALS FROM SHIP DISMANTLING
Type of the Circular Economy Activity implemented:
DISMANTLING/COMPONENT HARVESTING
Brief Description of the Activity:
It is planned to recover 90% (scrap metal, non-ferrous metals, WEEE Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, wood, etc.) and 10% to dispose of it in the treatment sectors (non-recoverable waste, hazardous waste). The metal/iron elements from the decommissioning operations will be worked on site to meet the quality standards of steel companies. The preparation of the scrap metal is carried out in parallel with the deconstruction operations: the deconstructed elements are placed on the slab adjacent to the refurbishment form, then prepared and moved to the scrap metal storage area. They will then be evacuated by sea from the quays of Bassens. During dismantling, elements containing non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper, stainless steel, etc.) will be isolated and sorted to obtain the best market value.
